Behind the paisley outfits and innovative YouTube videos (with literally over 10 million hits for “Here It Goes Again”) this is a band that has made some of the catchiest pop music around. Ok Go have a strong connection with their fans, and after a long tour last year, settled into the studio to produce a new album. “Of The Blue Colour Of The Sky” is on track to release January 12th on Capitol Records. I spoke with bass player and vocalist Tim Nordwind and we get into details on how this album is different – you can see the video for WTF? here. Another good month as far as interviews go, San Antonio trio Girl In A Coma is comprised of siblings Nina and Phanie Diaz, and complemented by childhood friend Jenn Alva on bass. In my busy travels before IPO I got the chance to pose some questions to Shawn Fogel, aka Golden Bloom. He’s got some pretty interesting things on his mind and a great link to a funny concert mishap. One of the very first reviews on this blog, was for Brian Ray’s Mondo Magneto. This self described rock god, guitarist and bass player for Paul McCartney made some time to chat with me. His newest album This Way Up is scheduled for 2010 release. Brian has played with many other musical legends such as Bobby Pickett, Etta James, Smokey Robinson and, more recently, played on Chris Cornell’s solo album.
