Videos & Singles: Kai Danzberg, Tripwire, David Mhyr and The Red Button

What do you get when you combine power pop pros Kai Danzberg and Dana Countryman? Probably one of the sunniest, most optimistic slices of pop ever, and a perfect theme to start your summer. Get this gem today!

Trip Wire‘s founding duo Marty Schneider and Bill Hunt are joined by newer band members Stu Shader on drums and Jeff Shelton (The Well Wishers) on bass. This is a great new single from the band. Check it out!

David Myhr‘s new LP remains on my summer playlist. Check out the album review here. And this is his new video for “My Negative Friend”

Another prominent pairing is this special single from The Red Button featuring the legendary Peter Noone (Herman’s Hermits).  It was a truly an A&R miracle thanks to Marty Scott of JEM Records. Get the single here.

May Singles: Richard Turgeon, Cosmos Sunshine, SA Reyners, The Golden Rail, The Ego Ritual, Dan Rico

The opening track from Richard Turgeon‘s upcoming LP, “Lost Angeles.” It’s a big-sounding, California-tinged power pop track with lots of harmonies. And it’s a FREE download.

Cosmos Sunshine sounds pretty hippie-dippy, right? But no, this is a big rocker with hooks and an angst in the groove. Fans of Neil Young will like this one.

New Zealand’s SA Reyners gives us one sweet single. A bouncy piano is layered with rhythms and counter melodies. Very impressive! If you’d like another SA Reyners single, Lexiconographer was released last month and it’s a FREE download. When is this guy gonna make a full album already?

The Golden Rail is an Australian supergroup of sorts. Members have come from various bands: The Palisades, The Rainyard, Header, Summer Suns, DM3 and The Jangle Band. The singles here are simply great covers. “Shouldn’t Get Hung Up About It” was originally recorded by The Village Idiots and “Fined For Wrestling” was originally recorded by The Tokyo 5.

The Ego Ritual is a new psyche-pop band that’s about to debut on Kool Kat Musik. This is an advance single that’s very groovy and a FREE download too!

Dan Rico is just “Hot To Please” and with this FREE download, he definitely pleases.

Saturday Night Singles: Ken Sharp, Geoff Palmer, Brad Marino, Thrift Store Halo

Ken Sharp was given a challenge by producer Fernando Perdomo. Write a song with the title, “She Hates the Beatles!” Since Ken is a huge Beatle fan, it wasn’t easy but he did it. I mean, who in their right mind could hate the Beatles, right?

Geoff Palmer is having a friendly rivalry with his bandmate Brad Marino. Both guys play for The Connection and both put out solo singles this week. Fans of the band,  Tommy and the Rockets or New Trocaderos will love it. Which one do you choose? You don’t have to! Get’em both!

Thrift Store Halo is working on a follow up to last year’s LP. This single is a great start. It’s classic Power Pop calling to mind Elvis Costello, Paul Weller, and Nick Lowe.

Singles: The Sunchymes, Ken Sharp, Ed Ryan and Red Caravan

The Sunchymes summery fusion of power pop and psychedelia is back with “Try,” a subtle melody with lots of jangle and sweet harmonies. Get this one as a FREE download.

In honor of the reunion of Todd Rundgren’s Utopia, Ken Sharp got together with Fernando Perdomo and Rob Bonfiglio to make this original single – get it on Amazon or Itunes

Ed Ryan has a new single too and this one has a Spanish styled melody featuring a multi-layered guitar strum. It’s always good to hear from Ryan, and this single is a FREE download.

I don’t know much about Austrailian artist Red Caravan, but much of his output on bandcamp is FREE. It’s lo-fi indie pop done with an acoustic guitar. Worth exploring.

Friday Singles: The Bobbleheads, Reno Bo, The JAC, and The Co-op

Holidays are coming soon and the artists we follow deliver singles every year during this month. Not everything here is free, but I do make sure to add a few name-your-price singles to the list. I would also encourage you to check out these artists past work.

San Francisco band The Bobbleheads, one of the most underrated of power pop bands, has a sweet holiday single for us. And this song is extra groovy as its also a name-your-price download.

Reno Bo is another amazing talent. He had one of the top albums of the year in 2015. This month he brings us his catchy “Smile Across The Universe” and a mono version is included with this single.

The JAC (aka Joe Algeri and friends) have a slightly somber take on the holiday since it’s clearly been another tough year for music lovers of the classic era of rock n’ roll – Tom Petty, Glen Campbell, Chuck Berry, Fats Domino and the Young brothers, George and Malcolm.

A collective of artists: Dw. Dunphy, Jeff Elbel, Randy Kerkman, and Dan Pavelich remind us the holidays can also be a time when “Everything Goes To Hell” Please get this song for a single dollar. Proceeds from the song will be donated to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
