Singles: Brandon Schott, The Well Wishers and The Sensibles

Brandon Schott: Get ready for gorgeous melodies from Brandon, this song is an advance from his new album “Crayons and Angels” which is self-funded through Kickstarter here. This tune “Every Little Song” is full of neat little sonic details and also helped by having the talented Kelly Jones backing Brandon up. Soak it in and please invest in great music like this.

The Well Wishers: Well Wishers frontman Jeff Shelton is at it again. “Build A Life” here is an unmastered demo, but it sounds better than most bands finished singles. Keep making music Jeff, and we’ll keep on listening.

The Sensibles: This is an Italian band that keeps improving with each release, and this A-B single is full of guitar crunch and Stella’s accented delivery. “Bibi” is a fun punk pop romp, and “Little Girl” has an early ’60s girl group vibe (think Shangri-La’s) with its catchy chorus.

Singles: Vegas With Randolph, The Autumn Defense and Greg Chiapello

Vegas With Randolph has been slowly releasing singles (in preparation for a new album). This one is exceptional, with the driving chorus and dense guitars. “Jacob” is an adrenaline pumping tale of an exhilarating experience, its resulting bumps and bruises, and the triumph of the thirst for the thrill of the ride.

The Autumn Defense goes all “Kermit” on this cover of Joe Raposo’s biggest hit for Sesame Street. Beautifully done.

Greg Chiapello is a soft-spoken troubadour from Brisbane, Australia who is currently working on his debut EP. After hearing “Hot Coffee” you’ll get that caffeine-like high for your weekend!

Singles: Wesley Fuller, Toxic Melons and Michael Stec

Wesley Fuller could well be the new face of pop in 2015. Starting with a proto-glam Glitteresque beat and a psychedelic groove, “Change Your Mind” is a great introduction to this Aussie popster. And on top of that this track is FREE on bandcamp.

Toxic Melons is back! This really cool single is the start of a new EP for Pablo “Melons,” and he’s got some high powered help with both Roger Joseph Manning Jr. and Eric Dover of Jellyfish contributing. Don’t miss it!
Michael Stec is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Philadelphia. He’s got a lot of FREE material out there, comparisons to John Southworth or Sondre Lerche are about right. Explore his bandcamp area for more goodies.

Singles: Peter Lacey, Propeller and The Roaring Juniors

Peter Lacey “Wayward Song”

Peter Lacey’s music has been compared to that of Brian Wilson, sharing a similar talent for harmonies and lush musical arrangements. This is a wistful dream of a song, which brings to mind The Moody Blues.
Get the vinyl at Pink Hedgehog Records

Propeller “Wish I Had Her Picture/Can’t Feel These Things”

Propeller delivers this FREE 2 song-single that really impresses. Crunchy guitars that form dense rhythms and hook filled choruses meant to be served loud. Enjoy!

Roaring Juniors “See You (All The Time)” and “Sweet Marie”

Ann Arbor, Michigan band brings us a old school music in the jangling tradition of The Rubinoos.  These tracks will be on the bands next full length Perennials. This is a great preview that just gets me excited for the upcoming LP this spring.

Singles: Jared Lekites, The Davenports and Timmy Sean

Jared Lekites

Jared Lekites “Five Separate Lives/And It’s Over”

I may rethink my policy of no single reviews when I hear something this good. Jared has produced a single so catchy I can loop it my player and not get tired of it. Not much to say except I hope an album follows this gem of a single. The B-side “And It’s Over” has a little Jeff Lynne in its DNA, with its casual strum over a repeated muti-tracked chorus. Get it at Bandcamp only.

The Davenports

The Davenports “Leanne”

A new single a month is the strategy from The Davenports. We are on month three and Scott Klass is a master of the guitar hook and proves it once again with “Leanne.” The band also has a free EP out there, a reworking of “Five Steps” from the A&E show Intervention, and a new track “Away From Me.” Its like Chinese water torture getting a song a month, but I’ll take it… Only on Bandcamp.

Timmy Sean “Gimme Everything”

Timmy Sean has a better idea: a single each week. You get immediate gratification from the talented musician. And stylistically he’s all over the place, but I like this very Lenny Kravitz-like rocker “Gimme Everything.” You do get a series of covers and some live tracks – so if you want originals you can pick and choose. Other gems I liked are “Everything I Want” and “One Dimensional Man.” Get all of them over at Bandcamp.
